Tradition, history, food and good wine.
Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines is a relais nestled in the Monferrato Astigiano, that strip of Piedmont located between the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Vercelli. It is easily reachable, being only a few hours from Milan, Turin, and Genoa. Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines stretches along the 45th parallel, and its 100 hectares of land touch four municipalities: Montemagno, Varigi, Casorzo, and Altavilla.
The history of this land is bound to the name of Aleramo.
He was a military nominated imperator who won many battles and conquered many lands. It is said that, once, his horse lost a shoe, then fixed by Aleramo with a brick.
And that’s where we get the name of the region: the dialect words “mun” ( brick) and “frà” (shoeing )that form the word “Monferrato”
Monferrato offers a landscape of great beauty: rolling hillsides cross it, showing woods, vineyards, and ancient old towns made of red bricks. Wine is one of the precious results of the laboriousness of the inhabitants of these lands.
These are world-famous excellences and unique and exclusive characteristics, such as the native vines of Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato and Malvasia di Casorzo. The tourist’s palate will find satisfaction by combining the wines of this land with the typical dishes of Monferrato cuisine, revisited in a modern and innovative key by the chefs who work in the hotel and relais of this region, such as Tenuta Montemagno Relais & Wines.
